Flatey is an island of about 1x2 km where I spent a magical 24 hours. It is the largest of the 40 "large" and hundreds of small islets in the Bredafjordur in the west of Iceland. In the spring it is a paradise for bird watchers. Surrounding this multitude of islets are the massives of the Westfjords to the north and the Snaefellsnes peninsula to the south.
