Helen,
Very facinating views. Is the church near a village/town? #1 is very interesting study in contrast. #2 and #3 show the desolation of the place and the rugged terrain.

Yeah, it's weird seeing that church all by itself with no visible town. #1 and 2 are my favorites.

Iceland has lots of little churches in the middle of nowhere. They are places where people once lived but that have become deserted. The houses have decayed, but as churches are monuments they still get regular upkeep.
