These are taking me away from the subject not towards him...I would have preferred him down the other end.

I do really like the shapes in this picture, but I have to agree with Bud on this one, they do kinda seem to lead me away, instead of toward. Although I guess that's what you could have meant, eh? ;-)

And if there wasn't the strong diagonal and the fact that were lines intersect is a focal point I might agree. And the fact the light gets brighter as you move from the right into the frame.

They lead me to the guy and are not trying to leave the photo. That was just what my eyes did before reading any of the comments.

I like the presentation as is. It's one of those shots where the subject is noticed after taking in the background. I can see how leading lines can lead the wrong way, but this one worked for me, leading to him rather than away.

General rule of thumb. Westerners view things 'left to right', so you want to put your main focus point on the 'right' side.
