p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Brandywine Falls - Cuyahoga Valley National Park

We took a drive out from Cleveland (only about 25minutes) to visit another highly regarded trail here in our metropark system. I brought along all my gear of course, knowing it had a really nice waterfall.

I was surprised how beautiful it really was in person! Although it was freezing this day, the addition of ice made for a more interesting photo, especially given the barren, winter foilage.

Longest exposure was 15-seconds using my CPL and 6-stop ND filters stacked. Lens used was the 24-70 II for all.

Not really a landscape photographer per-say, but I am getting more into it lately on our hikes and such.

It was all covered with a nice layer of snow on Monday! Brandywine Falls is a 5 minute ride from my house. Hope you had fun on the hike. The lower part of the trail is excellent for wildflowers in the spring (if it ever gets here). I think I might like your last image the best of the set.

We will be sure to go back when spring rolls around (when and if!)... Thanks for the heads up!

Hey, Invertalon, nice pictures. I saw your post last night, and realized I was driving right past on the Turnpike today, so I decided to stop by. You did a really nice job of framing Brandywine Falls. Despite the well-positioned overlook, it is hard to get a good angle without being able to move around off the boardwalk. I couldn't find any better, and the snow has mostly melted, so it wasn't quite as attractive as your shots. But I can see that this would be a really nice location in spring.

On the other hand, I also went to Blue Hen Falls while I was in the area, and got some nice shots, considering the conditions. I actually prefer the smaller falls, especially since you can easily get down to stream level to work on different compositions.

Anyway, thanks for the inspiration!

Dave
