Hi folks,

This is my first post to the landscape forum and because of other posts of northern lights I thought I'd share a shot.

By far the best display since July 2012 (at least for me here in northern MN), the St. Patrick's Day aurora put on quite the show. I almost missed the event but fortunately caught the last few hours when I started shooting around 04:00 am central time. I did rush to out and made a few mistakes with technique plus it was very cold (-24 F) but well worth the experience. C &C welcome.

Hi Wes,

I like this one very much. I am sure shooting at -24 is going make things a bit tougher. Despite the difficulties it looks like you came away with a very cool shot. I like it.

Hi Wes,
Very nicely done. Looks like a fine show mother nature put up for you. Well captured.

Well done. Anything at -24 is difficult.

Thank you! Indeed! I grabbed the wrong gloves and my hands hurt so bad from the cold. Made it difficult to reposition my tripod and operate my shutter release. But fortunately the location is right off the road which made it easy to warm up in the car.

Thank you, Sunny! I appreciate it! Yeah, it was great, well actually spectacular. 24mm wasn't quite wide enough to capture the near horizon-to-horizon lights in addition to the flashing bursts overhead.

I would love to see the aurora like this! Just doesn't happen where I live. Very pretty shot. You live in a very nice little community!

Good image, Wes.

It was a great show that night. I was out for 8 hours in sub-zero temps and got about 500 frames.
