Smoke Filled Canyon of Sougahoagdee Falls, Bankhead National Forest, AL, US.

From what I could gather they were conducting a controlled burn west of the canyon. That contributed the the faint haze of smoke visible in the top of the photograph.

6 shot panorama, with Canon 50D, EF 17-40mm f/4L @ 17mm, 3.2 seconds, f/16, ISO 100.

Barry,
I like the BW conversion but the faint haze of smoke disappears with the conversion..
The color version has an attractive mood and beautiful greens, making it special to me.

Great capture Barry. Looks like the smoke worked out well for your image. I prefer the color version for the same reason Fred mentioned and for the nice colors it has. One thing I prefer is a crop off the right hand side, maybe halfway between the right edge and the falls to remove much of the dark shadowed area.

Barry - A short drive for me but I've never been there. It's definitely on my list now after seeing this image along with others in your gallery.

Although the B&W version looks flatter, I love the detail and contrast. Maybe with a little more tinkering it would gain a little more acceptance
