Went on a short hike today with my daughter. The desert is unusually green right now from recent rain.

Hey Bryan,

That is sure green! For me, I like this image, but it does seem to just be lacking something.. one thing is the path, I am thinking if you had moved more towards you left on it so that more of the wide path at the bottom would be seen towards where it dwindles down in size would be good. Right now the path visually abruptly ends, so in the midst of the green is just this spot of brown, which is distracting. Also, I think a slight bump in saturation might be nice here, but that might be my own personal choice.

Bryan, isn't this time of the year amazing in Arizona? Your shot is nice, I like the cloud pattern above the mountain. Would be nice to have something on a foreground, to spice up the composition.

Hi Jim:

Thanks for the suggestions, I can definitely improve on this composition. I just ordered a Spyder4Pro because my monitor needs calibration. I feel a little lost with my post processing at the moment until then.

I agree Aleksandra, I really love this state and all of its offerings. Here is another version...

This one is a better alternate, Bryan. For future use, you might want to think about a composition where the foreground isn't necessarily in the middle where it tends to grab the eye. As an example, looking at the alternate shot above, moving the camera so the cactus is positioned more towards the bottom left would allow one's eye to continue on into the rest of the frame. JMTC

Very nice light on the mountain, especially in the first. And, that's a killer sky.

I prefer the initial photo over the one with the cactus foreground element. What a great place to shoot. This time one year ago I was out there backpacking on Spring Break. Wouldn't trade those four days there in mid-March for four days anywhere else.
