either way works as Karen illustrated
love the lighting on the area around and including the canoe
BTW it was interesting to view the original as I did: I scrolled down gradually from the top, enjoying frame and brownish tones of the trees and the sky. I expected a sepia monotone. Then, SURPRISE, the open lighting, the bright red and other colors of the canoe, and of course the interesting reversal with the strong reflections
Nice work Kent!
Well since Karen flipped it already, I can share the story that when I showed it to my better half, she thought the "squiggly branches" were just natural to the tree (not realizing she was looking at the inverted water reflection). I just told her it was because they were "curly maple" ... I had to cook dinner for that one.
I like this image especially when flipped, the way it was seen - trees on bottom. I find that the shoreline in the original image confuses me somewhat.
Bea, I'm glad you find the original somewhat confusing ... it was meant to be something to "pond"er (I really should change the title). But I'm still glad that you like it the other way too.
Ben, thanks. I thought about B&W, but I didn't come up with a way that I liked. Feel free to play with it and show us what your vision for it is.
