p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Sea Stack Sunset (Edited)

This image may not do it for many... I have been going for a softened painterly affect lately....

Went to Bandon last week hoping to get Wizard's Hat at sunset... the sky was quite thick with clouds and the POV I had wasn't offering a sunset behind that rock... so I got this one of some sea stacks with a sunset. It was extremely windy and I tried to use my body to block most of the wind... C&C if you choose, I know that 1. this is not the most perfect of shots (wind) & 2. the PP is not going to be to many's liking, just thought i'd share.

I have added this new image into the original post so you don't have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the new one.... I left the original so that you can see the differences that are being discussed.

First image is the new, edited version, 2nd image is the old, original version.

Hey Lee,

This pretty cool looking, I like the vibrant colors you got. You will want to check the dimensions of this, the widest side should be a max of 850pix wide. But otherwise, I like what you came up with.

I usually do not like images which have been over processed and over saturated. I do, however, like this one. The colors are obviously not real but help create a mood and add to the appeal of the image. I like that part. I also like the painterly look of the water. I think this would be much better if you used a mask and left the sharpness of the outline and detail in the rocks.

Did you miss focus? Otherwise, the soft effect isn't working - IMO. If you only took the one shot and you missed focus, shame on you! That light is lovely!

Umbrella! Great shot but wish it was not blurred. Good reason to go back out!

I like the colors and except for the stacks being blurry which was already mentioned I think it turned out nicely.

Thanks to all, YES, it was that windy.... enough to make wielding an umbrella precarious.. but as I am a S.N.O.B. (State Native Oregon Born), I don't believe in the use of umbrellas.

I went back through my shots and discovered one that the wind must not have effected as much and I think comes out much better... for those of you still looking at the thread, here is my 2nd try, not as much processing but I think it still has a painterly look to it.

Like the second version, especially reflections on a sand.

Hey Lee,

Your second version is even better. Being sharper is good. You need to edit your title to indicate an Edit or such so others know to look again at this. And since you only had one photo in your original post, you might want to just edit that post and add this photo with a comment to it so people see the different shot right away. But either way, what cool skies you had that night.
