p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Photo locations around Sea-Tac airport?

Not sure where to post this question, so I will be asking both here and in City-Street forum.

I find it difficult to get into the Seattle area for early morning photography, but next week I will be talking my wife to SeaTac for a 7:10 AM flight. Since I am there I don't want to miss the opportunity to take some photos after she boards the plane. I am not sure when I will have to leave her as she goes through security.
I am looking for locations near & around SeaTac. Because of the morning traffic I don't think I would have time to actually get into Seattle before sunrise. Is there anything close by? My other option is to drive up before then and explore, but I could miss places.

I'm afraid that if your wife has a 7:10 flight you may have missed sunrise as I believe it is around 6:30-6:45 this time of year. If you drop her off early and get going you may have some time. I'm only slightly familiar with the area as I rarely stop in the vacinity and usually am just passing thru. Sorry I can't help with suggestions but good luck.

Not too far south of the airport is Grandview Off Leash Dog Park. If you walk down to the far SE corner of the park, there is a nice view of Mt. Rainier over the valley. Of course, clouds will have to cooperate.

Thank you both for the replies. I was aware of the sunrise time. I believe there is a point when I will not be able to escort my wife to her gate because of the security, that's when I will be leaving, what ever time that is.
I wish I could go with her, she is going on a ten day trip to Israel.

I used to live west of the airport.

The two highlighted red circle areas have decent views of Rainier. The smaller one off of Sylvester can capture planes landing too if they are approaching from the south

I used Google earth to try and locate a location with view you described, but can't tell where it might be. Looking at the weather forecast I con't think it will matter, suppose to be rain. Maybe I can get some raining airport photos, or go ahead and drive into Seattle. Time to try out the weather proof capabilities of my camera & lens, rain is not suppose to be a problem with it (Pentax K-5 II & WR lens).

Again, thank you all for the replies.

Rain won't be. I've walked around in a pouring thunderstorm w/ my K20D while Canikon users were covering their gear w/ bags
It was more a problem drying myself off afterwards because soggy socks aren't comfortable
