As far as an inexpensive lens for landscape take a look at the Nikon 18-70mm. A very good bang for the buck lens. The Tamron 17-50 would be another good choice.
If you're not in a hurry, I'd wait a couple more months. You've waited this long already, I'm sure 2 more months wouldn't hurt. Once the D7100 start hitting the shelves and people start posting amazing images from it, people will be itching to upgrade. It's always been the case... it never fails
Bought my D600 the same month it was introduced for $2100. Had I waited a couple of months, I could've bought one for $1600, or $1999 with a free 24-85 VR. Too bad I'm an impatient mofo! lol
Looks like I'm getting the D7000 with a 35mm f/1.8 DX.
I know it'll probably come down in price a little more, but I think I'll be glad I went ahead and got it now anyway. The price is really good as it is.
