You are/were a long way from home.

I like the image but think there is too much black at the bottom.
I would crop it to the regular 2:3 ratio.

The dark area in the foreground was intentionally enhanced to convey, say, a kind of a specially "dark" mood here. However, I'm going to think about another crop as recommended, coming up with a bit later (as well as with a color version).
