It's always the last couple of weeks/months that hurt the most - when dates start to slip.
Though honestly, I think we'd probably all agree that it's better Leica take the time to get things right NOW rather than once it's in the wild. They got burned on the M8 and probably play it safer these days as a result.
Similarly I've been putting my fingers crossed on the new Zeiss 135 f2.

Even when Leica says something "officially" it's not necessarily accurate and subject to change. In fact, the only shipping timeframe they gave that was "official" was "early 2013." The later Feb-Mar timeframe was made by S.D. (or was it A.K. I forgot offhand) and was more "unofficial."
This latest delay is also unofficial. It surely has something to do with quality of the images or video, but not because of the ones that have been seen on the web (official via Leica's website or not).
There is the possibility that there was a reaction to something shown up til now, which forced them to do a rethink and extend the development a bit. I would hope that this might be the centre-only-liveview.
There are other posts about this on LUF that cite some actual sources, but not necessarily any more concrete. It appears B&H recently updated expected delivery to April 30th. Also someone enrolled in a Leica-organized M240 class indicated it was postponed from next week until sometime in May...

Why not because of those images? There is considerable banding in many of those, especially the higher ISO images across several firmware iterations.

I guess a matter of semantics, then. One of the supposed reasons for the new (and previous) delay is because of the firmware and the tweaking they're still doing. I say not because of those images - because it's technically ANY and ALL images, posted or not...
Leica has never given a firm ship date. They have always said it would be "early 2013" which could mean anytime up until the end of June. They are not late.... Yet. I can't afford it anyway.

Maybe they need time to negotiate a deal with Sony for a customized sensor package tuned to properly support M lenses from wide to long?
