Shame on you. Writing FREE in bold letters you made me think they are giving away something significant, like an old body or a lens... Anyway, as been saaid before, it's not really free.
Wait, so the silver membership is free?!?
How "professional" do you have to be, to truly qualify?
If you sell some photos here and there is that considered pro?
i'd really love to have the benefits of this membership, I just don't think I'd really qualify as PRO in most people's definition.

I am a member of Canons (free) CPS Silver Membership and just received this in the mail as a “Thank you” for being a loyal member.
It is made by one of my favorite photo bag company Think Tank, and it holds 8 CF Cards plus 3 SD Cards.
Membership has its benefits, of course you have to have a certain amount of Canon gear owned to qualify. The membership did help with expediting a lens repair once, which was one year out of warranty, and at no cost to me.
Thanks Canon!
O.K., let me get this straight. You have to own a certain amount of gear to qualify. Otherwise, you can't join, but it's free. Sorry, but somehow that just dosen't make any sense what so ever. Oh, i know what you're going to say! "I already had the gear, so why not join?"
If you didn't have the gear already, or had to purchase it to join, was it free? I really hate to be cynical here, but i'm a realist. There is NOTHING in this world that is free, except of course,,,,,,,,,,,,NOTHING! You can get plenty of that most anywhere without joining anything.

Since you paid for the membership, I would hardly call it free.
Silver membership is free... so it is truly "free" for the OP. I received one too, and also am a Silver member. I'm not sure I'll ever use it because I now have 64G SD cards so rarely need more than one, and when I do the couple of SD slots on my camera bag fit the bill fine. Years ago when I did tournaments and use smaller CF cards, I would have loved one of these.
Sorry friend, but i still say it's not "truly free" as you say. If you don't believe me, try getting a membership without owning any Canon gear, then you'll see what "truly free" really means.
I realize this forum is not for debates and well should not be, so we need to end this on a mutual note. This 'FREE' thing just has always been a pet peeve of mine, so i had to voice my position on it.
I'm 65 years old and have always had to pay, in one way or another, for everything i've ever owned and always will. You'll see what i mean someday.
I notice on Canon's website that gold and platinum members can participate in the evaluation loans - looks like you can try out all of the latest cameras and lenses. Do you have to pay extra or membership fees include the equipment evaluation for "free"? TIA.
I got mine a couple of weeks ago. And while agree it's more appropriate than that dreadful calendar/day timer thing they used to send, it's still not something I would use. I was going to give it my 6 year old niece - I'm sure she'll find something to do with it - but if someone wants mine, pay for shipping and it's yours... PM me.
EDIT: Le wallet has been claimed. Please, no more PM's
