I had friday off so I went back to improve the shot I had of the tree overhanging Bow River. I put my insolated rubber boots on so I could walk further into the river and headed off about 500 meters up the river in the dark walking through the river.
Fortunately it was just under freezing and the morning was beautiful.
Unfortunately, I grabbed the wrong camera (7d instead of 5dii) out of my car5 and did not discover this until 20 minutes before sunrise while standing in the river. So all of these shots are with ts-17 with 5 x 3 shots (3 autobracket portrait orientated x 5 to get the whole river and mountain in), then stitched with photoshop.
The light was still not as good as it could be so I have to go back.
Comments and feedback is appreciated. Scott
1-4 of 4
1 of 4 - "My tree and the Castle from the Bow River"
Alan Dean: Alan - I don't know you live but this spot is really easy to get to - just under the bridge with rubber boots at Castle Junction. Glad you like them. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
MikeW: Glad you like them. We have not had much snow this winter low down. But there is still a few months left. You will enjoy the thin snow. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Dave Bachrach: The 7d is pretty good but not as good wide. Glad you like 1 and 4. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
jcw1982: Those are high complements - thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Great shots, I like all 4 but the light in the first is particularly appealing.
I had left my tripod and had to shoot with a monopod the day I shot from that spot in the summer of 2011. So I do know how you felt with the wrong camera!
Thinking of coming up in late May or early June. Would like to have semi-frozen lakes with just enough water to get some good reflections. And no snow or ice on the roads of course!
ckcarr: It was a great winter day but I did not see any fish. Thanks for the encouragement. Much appreciated. Scott
dwa652: A monopod would be tough. Give me a pm when you come. I have some other shots a little earlier but the low orange light on the rocks seemed to work. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
rxgolf: My rubber boots were insulated but I could still feel the cool water. Glad you like them. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
rick2906: The sun warmth was was made the first appeal to me too. Glad you like it. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
harland: The 7d does a nice job - just a bit less narrow on the ts17 - which means stitching. Glad you like it. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
