I would likely look at an entry level crop dslr and a 50mm with extension tubes to start out with.

To answer this question we are going to need some more information on what you are wanting to shoot. Will your subjects be spoked easily? Are you shooting flowers? or are the bugs around you pretty mellow?

Something else you are going to have to think about is, what is your light source going to be? Macro photography works best using a flash, if you already have one then this probably isn't a problem.

Sorry, my knowledge is limited, but there are some things to think about.
