Cruising the clearance section in housewares at TJMaxx I found a suction cup caddy designed to prevent your beer from sliding around on a boat or other smooth surface marked down to $2 each. The size seemed odd but upon reading the label and seeing it is an Austrailan product the size made sense: it appears to be scaled to fit a Fosters beer can.
Called a "Spink" it is made by a company called "Dreamfarm".
I found the materials for my latest iteration of DIY diffusers (plastic cutting board sheets shown below) in the same section at TJMaxx so the DIY wheels started turning in my brain and I realized it would make a great gizmo to attach an OCF to a window or mirror. I already have super clamps and arms, A clamp mounts, and a board with a lighting stud on it I can bungie to trees or place on top of a ladder. The suction cup mount rounds out the collection.
The lever inside applies the vacuum. It's hard to get it off a glass surface even after the lever is released. I just needed to drill a hole for the 1/4-20 bolt need to mount the supplied flash foot.
As the labels indicate it wasn't a hot item. But then about the only place you'd really need one for the intended use is on a fiberglass boat lacking cup holders.
Interesting, I was just looking a suction cup device on display at a hardware store the other day. Too bad, there's no TJMaxx around here.
Now for the real question: No Foster's ... then what does a mate drink? It's been about 30 years since I was last in Brisbane. I expect things are a bit different now.

I recently had to replace the HD on my iMac which involves pulling off the glass before seeing these and spent $10 for a pair of bathroom plungers for the task.
If I act quickly I can corner the local market for them. How many would you like for the low... low... everyday price of $19.95 + S&H. But wait ..... Special today only, 2 for the price of 1, just pay the extra S&H **
** S&H: $49.95 ea. by slow mule train/dog sled depending on season. $99.95 ea. by UPS ground (more or less the same delivery time). Using your credit card? That will be a 4% surcharge
And in keeping with the spirit of this thread I'll add my contribution: Studies have shown that the quality of the vacuum will affect the holding power. I'm prepared to provide the cleanest vacuum available (I use a vacuum cleaner!). I will offer cans of clean vacuum at a substantial discount. Contact me for details.
