I think that my Tokina 17mm f/3.5 was a bargain. They are discontinued, but are excellent and available used for << $300. Easily beat out my 17-40mmL, but my 16-35mmL is better.

Chris, glad you found an ultra-wide; that 17 sound nice, and I'm a bit in envy of that 6D, I'm thinking on getting one around late spring if funds be there. Chris, great choice in the tokina 17. Shoot what you want and what you are comfortable with. Do not let everyone here get to you about your choices. It is always easy to criticize when someone is doing something that you do not agree with. 6D sounds like a fantastic camera. I own and shoot with the tokina 17, the 50 1.8 (although mine is the MkI, my daughter has the MkII) and the 28-105. I have been relatively pleased with the 28-105 and it will suit me just fine until I can save up for something better that will suit my needs better.
The Canon 17-40 zoom will be better than the Tokina 17mm F3.5 you have.
I found the 17-40 gave a bit better sharpness and colors with a 5D classic.
but post processed the Tokina 17mm F3.5 was not bad

The 20-35 mm Canon is kind of like Rodney Dangerfield...gets no respect. I like the lens and had it once. At f8, you can't tell the difference between it and an L lens. I'm not just talking, I actually take team sports pictures and people looking at the comparison shots couldn't tell the difference......Wide open, you may be able to tell...I didn't test that but the canon is a very good lens for the price and wouldn't hesitate to buy it again if I were on a tight budget. Easy to resell Canon lenses too.
really the only reason i went with the Tokina over the Canon 20-35, is because 20mm isn't generally wide enough for me. I prefer ~17, ~28, ~50, ~85-105.

I went with the OM Zukio 21mm 3.5 and have enjoyed it. Sharp enough and the thing I like is the low distortion on my 5DII.
Tokina came in the other day. It's fantastic!
AF is fast enough, although a bit loud haha.
Build is just excellent. VERY solid little lens.
I did +10 MA lens adjustment, that seems to have it spot on in my limited testing so far.
Don't have any really nice shots uploaded anywhere yet, but I do have some casual grab shots from a night out with my wife and friends.
With the 6D's great low-light AF, and superior high-iso abilities, this lens is more than enough for my needs.
