Yes indeed, these are classic Socrate shots, they have your fingerprints all over them and that is a very good thing!! These bring me back to my early days on this forum when I would look at your work and think of how beautiful your work. That hasn't changed one bit, excellent as always my friend
Tim
Thanks for yourgood words, Tim. The lil ones are my favorite birds and my favorite subjects. I believe they have so much personality

Nice set of shots. Is it just me or does the 7D with the TC look sharper than the 1d4 with the TC? I assume you are using a 500mm with 1.4. I know what you mean about tone breaks after upload. I do not see them in my originals either. I do not notice it in your shots though.
Thank you, No ANgle. Yes, I used a 500mm.+1.4TC. I really don't see any visible difference in sharpness between the two. Sometimes is the subject that has more detail to show

Everytime you post I feel I have taken two steps backward, you make it look easy Socrate
Ok, I will admit I am not the greatest fan of super close head shots, it just doesn't have the feel overall that I really like but I can certainly respect the accuracy in recording and presenting these images and yours have that special 'portal to the soul' so well opened to enjoy
So #2 is just super sweet in my eyes Socrate, character, color, light, pose and enough environment to make it a treat as if I had walked up on this offering in the woods. Nothing easy about making that yellow look that good, this one is special and WB is top notch as is the presentation.
#3 also is just right, nice balance in the eye to grab attention but not to overpower the image, I like the pose too, excellent image again sir!
Of the tight shots #5 is my pick, I like how the bird presented itself and this is just crazy with sweet detail and nice lighting, wonderful I say
OK, back to the drawing board again for me.............

The name of the game is: "Fill the frame and beyond" I think portrait of animals have a built in personality and easily convey a message about the subject.
However, what makes photography great is the fact that everybody can share their own style and each one can still get his/her message across or at least try.
I really appreciate your detail comments, Karl. The yellow in the second shot is a pain you know where Most of the time it is really hard to pull some detail out of it.
Thanks again
Socrate
Your usual sterling work Socrate -- my, it's good to be back at FM merely to see your posts again! I REALLY love the light -- and pose -- on the Red-bellied WP.And I don't believe I've ever seen a Yellow-throated Warbler before -- but I hope to see one soon, perhaps in the Florida Panhandle? Excellent portraits, my friend!

Terrific gallery of the little ones Socrate... Always a great pleasure to view your work.
All are so very well done technically and your compositions are perfect for me.
2 and 6 are the standouts for me... 2 is superb and I wouldn't change a thing about it.
Excellent work once again.
