p.1 #1 · Hello from Afghanistan..not a typical wedding post
Greetings! I'm new here and to the wedding business. I've worked for the past five years as a photographer for the Army, and I'm actually writing this post from Afghanistan, towards the end of my tour here (month 9).
I leave the service this coming August and I've been planning for the last two years to start a wedding/portrait business back home in Tacoma, Washington. It's something new, and very different, from what I've shot over the last few years! Hopefully Iraq and Afghanistan will have prepared me for what you all call Uncle Bob. After Jihad Bob, he can't be that bad.
This forum rocks, so I figured I'd finally sign up. You guys post some great work and I can't wait to share some of my first shoots with you. As an introduction, here's a few of my shots from the last few months. Shot on film and digital, with a Nikon FM10 and D3 respectively.

Nice work Roland and thank you for your service!
Welcome to FM! We have an amazing (and somewhat complicated) community here that has always been good to me. I look forward to seeing your work in the future!

Jihad Bob! Can't wait to see how you handle a stressed out bride and demanding Mother of the Bride, lol. I love that second photo in the chopper! Welcome and thanks for your service!

I would suspect your experiences would prepare you for weddings like no other! If anything, you should be able to keep your cool in any situation and deflate any freaking out bride.
