p.1 #1 · Nikon or Canon for Macro

New to FM. Interested in getting into macro. Have both Nikon system D3s and just ordered Canon 1Dx. Do not have a macro lens for either brand. Any recommendations on which lens and any differences between Nikkor and Canon in the macro dept.

Thanks

Joe

I like 180 Tamron. Either system should work well. What did you have in mind?

I really like 1:1 macro which most are except Canon 50 I believe. If you need 1x to 5x magnification Canon MPE 65mm the way to go. Most macro lenses perform well. I like a telephoto zoom if I'm not getting real close.

Think the only thing to think about re Nikon vs Canon is whether you are likely to want to shoot above 1:1 magnification as canon do the only zoom macro lens - the MPE-65 covering from 1:1 to 5:1 mag. No other lens like it on the market for any other body.

And how I wish Nikon would bring out their own version of the mpe-65.
