Hi Bryan, it was probably around 40F at the time. I had a hat and gloves on, but at least the cranes didn't have to break ice off their tootsies to fly off to breakfast.

Eric, you've shown some great behavioral stuff from Africa -- as Jim W. said above, being there and seeing what's going on is a big part of what we (try to) do.

Nice! Thanks for sharing these. I appreciate the temperature correlation info in the comments. I only see cranes in the Southern California desert, where low temps are rare and I've never seen tucked-in feet....
