I didn't set out today to get some grossly underexposed shots and to see how far they could be pulled.... I simply made a few grabs and these are shadow areas from those.
From these, I am personally quite confident that the 6D offers me that bit extra shadow in case I need it on my regular shots.
If the 6D has solved the banding problem I will DEFINITELY get one! For my night photography banding has been an issue to worry about with both film scanners and DSLRs (of varying brand) for at least a decade one way or another. An affordable DSLR which allows high ISO low light photography without any banding (I can cope with noise, its banding that kills me!) then that is a Holy Grail for me.

The 6D in those noise tests is only a little bit better than the 5D III.
Only a little bit better? For how much less $$? Isn't a 5DIII $3400? If i could afford that, I would have bought a 5DIII. I cannot, so I am VERY pleased to have the latest FF sensor, with great noise handling, for what I can afford.

My point, even if the 5DIII is $2990, the 6D is still cheaper, has the latest FF sensor, and other options the 5DIII does not have.
Which is better depends on what one wants and what one wants to pay.
Very encouraging early results. Looks like the 5DIV incorporating 6D sensor tech will be that ever-elusive Last Camera I'll Ever Need™. Too bad it'll be 3 years before it gets here

The 6d offers you about 0.5 EV better shadows than 5dmk3 but much more in results comparing to 5dmk2. 3. if the visible banding is gone.
