What I find so striking about this one, Charlie, is how for me it is a great example of an exception to the rule about cutting off limbs. The cut-off leg on the left, just the fingers of the out-stretched hand, the cane, and the cut-off legs on the right all provide framing elements and completely tell the story even though only the baby is completely shown.
Well done.
Thanks Anthony, QJ and EB.
It's definitely minimalistic, and certainly not everyone's cuppa.
I liked that Mom was attentive but not overly protective. When the old man stopped to say "Koochie-koo" (or the French equivalent), everything was about the baby and the man.
They all ignored me, which was to my liking also.

Thanks Dein.
As with so much of my candid shooting, I had preset the exposure and walked to the place I wanted to shoot from. With only a few seconds before my presence affected their behavior, I quickly zoomed, focused and took one shot. At that point there was little in the way of thinking: when the composition looked "right," I pulled the trigger.
