A spectacular image, Herb- and an amazingly well-timed shot.
Just curious: did one eagle intentionally toss the fish to the other? I know that while on the nest the one hunting brings food to the one sitting on the eggs or babies. But this? Was it part of the mating foreplay routine? Or?

Hi Charlie, no mating foreplay here, just sheer competition between two eagles. The eagles are known to be lazy and they will wait for some other eagle to catch a fish, then the other eagles will chase it for their fish. They will drop their fish to avoid a fight or just so they can use their own talons to defend themselves. The eagle on the left did just that and dropped his fish. They will not hold back at all and some may get injured from these attacks.
