I really like this idea. Wish the cup were in sharp focus against the glowing orbs on the tree. You might also try a vertical crop of the cup/tree. The left third of the image doesn't contribute to the whole, and actually draws one's eye away from the cup/tree.
Those are just suggestions, of course. Your concept is a good one. Good luck!
