Can anyone tell me the meaning of the letter "uv" writing on canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens means? Thank you.

It looks like they may not continue that system. Some 2012 lenses are not sporting the "A" code.

I think the date code will disappear over time. My new 24-70/2.8L II doesn't have one at all. My 70-200/2.8L IS II does, but many other Mk II's do not. A quick search for 'code' on the Canon forum will turn up many threads on this issue, over the past year.
