Showing you some latest images. The client wanted a set of images for a blurb book. The nice thing about this family is that they ask me every year to do this! Every year they give me less time to shoot, this time it was only 1.5 hrs which involved a lot of walking between locations as well but the walking became part of the shoot and imparted a good energy to the photographs. The 1Dx was a beast though, the AF was soooo fast. Very impressed with this camera.
New 1dx in hand with only 1 day to read the manual.. phew, combined my zoom breaking after 15 minutes, leaving me with only my 85L, it was quite a challenging experience.
here are selection of images.
These are great! It looks like you have a knack. Where did you shoot these? Did the girl already know you from previous shoots, or did you have to get reacquainted.
The location is round and about Cambridge UK. The little girl is shy but the family are really good at keeping her interested and happy during the shoot.
I always aim to keep the children in a positive mood..I Never labour the posing , and if I have to act the fool to keep them smiling then so be it. The secret is having family members that work with you to make the most of the opportunities. It's always hard to get direct eye contact and the parents are crucial to help you on this, by standing directly behind the camera .. I still have to work at this one .. It's always an issue for me to improve on .. So musnt let my guard down.
JaneG,
You work very well with children and the exposures, expressions and comp are right on, save for #6. She looks like she is relieving herself on the frame rail. IMHO

I really like what you have here, but IMO the color balance needs to be warmed up just a little, especially given your subject.
It's an interesting point and difficult choice
The colour balance is in keeping with a cool autumnal morning in England . I think things might get a little strange with a slighter warmer tone. The skin colour is pretty authentic it depends whether we want authentic or not : )
