Did anyone notice an increase in their bounce rate when moving to a blogsite? I moved earlier in the year, around March. I think some of the "bouncing" was initially due to random links not being tied up to the new site (which was sorted soon after). The homepage is at around 30% which I think is okay, but the overall is higher, many people drop onto a post and then head back... although clearly view it or, as the "exit rate" is very low.
Just wondering if others have found this as well... or whether I need to make things a little more engaging! ;-)
a high bounce rate on a blog site isn't that big of a deal to me. If it is common for your clients to share a link, they will likely leave after viewing their friend's post. Break it down further by "source" to see what traffic type is causing the most bounces. That will at least be a good starting point.

Thanks for your help! Sadly, google analytics does not break down sources very well :-(. I have bounce rate, but no exit rate... meaning, like you say, friends/guests/etc might be viewing a post, 'enjoying', sharing, commenting, but not venturing beyond that page... which is technically a "bounce". For example, my bounce rate for facebook is 50%. Then 75% for mobile facebook . But I do not know if these people are leaving immediately or not. Eitherway, Joe gave me some useful tips so I'll look at implementing them to keep things a little more friends, quicker loading, more stimulating :-)
Try adding something at the bottom of the post ("See more weddings here", or your top posts, etc) to entice the reader to go further into your page. Its good for SEO and it links your site together more. You'll probably see bounce rate go down as well.
