I have the Tokina 17mm 3.5 at-x pro and love it on FX! Absolutely fantastic lens for the price. Build quality is top notch (for the pro, at least) and it takes 77mm filters.

I have a Tokina 17mm 3.5 RMC - which is phenomenal! I picked it up for like $130. I have seen some on here from time to time on the B&S - but they tend to go pretty quick (maybe my fault, lol). It is full manual, but it hasn't stopped me from using it.
This was shot on a 1Ds, which i just picked up a D700 on Monday. Testing it out tomorrow in the Gorge.

Wow, fantastic shot, thanks for sharing. I am looking though more for a zoom UWA as it wont 100% be for landscapes but probably some photoj and street photo as well. Also for those reasons need AF. Thanks for the shot, very nice
p.2 #4 · Best Ultra Wide Angle for FX (On a budget, ie not 14-24)
I've shot the Nikon 16-35 for a few years now. The lens is plenty sharp, and with the VR I can hand hold to ~1/3s sometimes. I used to hate the f/4 limitations but I am slowly overcoming that - I would say the main reason I disliked it was wishing for f/2.8 for faster shutter and less motion blur... the shallower DOF from a 2.8 lens is not a big deal to me that wide.
I also shot the Tokina 17mm prime on a trip and enjoyed it but the corners were a bit soft wide open. The only reason I brought it over my 16-35 was size. The Tokina 17mm has a maximum aperture of 3.5
I shot the Sigma 14mm for a few years also and didn't care for it. It seemed not as sharp as my 16-35 and was prone to flaring like no other. Perhaps the sharpness was just my copy but I can't say for sure.
Finally, I shot the Tokina 11-16 and really enjoyed that lens for DX. Very sharp in my opinion.

All that being said, I was looking into the Tokina 16-28 myself and found several reports of how prone that lens is to flaring. Something to consider.
