Thank you very much for sharing....I have to tell you those photos hit very close to home for me, when I was done with the last photo I had tears in my eyes. I can feel your pain and dread the day I will have to face the same pain.....

I appreciate it, firstgear99! All I can say is to really enjoy your time with him now. The more you do that, the less you will feel bad when it's his time.

Wow...that was very powerful thank you very much for sharing such intimate moments. My dad passed when I was 3, 33 years ago.... Your dad is lucky to have been surrounded by such an obviously loving family. Very moving post.

very moving and emotional. lots of emotions flowing. this is what photography is about. i am glad you were able to document these moments and i am glad you will have them to cherish forever.

I know this thread is over a year old...but wow! Talk about moving! I am kind of estranged from my father, mostly from his own actions, but this gave me a push to call him (well try too). I will try again tomorrow.

I too am estranged from my father, but only recently. I never thought this would happen, not in a million years. But here we are. My fault? His fault? What does it matter really? It eats at me slowly every day, and he won't talk to bridge the gap.

Count yourself luck my friend. In a strange way, I envy you.

Yeah, that's his only great-grandchild there that he's reacting to. He totally was lighting up around the kids. Sure, he was slowly passing away, he lasted only three or four days past this picture, but we were really celebrating his life. Thanks for commenting!
