Ron, sorry for your loss. You have documented how much love is in your family. I love that all of your hospital captures are in color. It really helps portray the happiness that he had being with his family and especially his grandchildren. Thank you for sharing something so close to you.

Yeah, I actually did it in color intentionally because the vibrancy of the color represents our feelings at that time. The last shot, I desaturated the colors. Thanks for commenting!

First, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Second, these are some of the best pictures I’ve seen.

This really hit home for me since I lost my father a couple years ago and remember sitting in the hospital and watching my father slowly move on to a better place. My siblings and mother were with my father to the very end and knowing he wasn’t alone means the world to me. It was difficult to experience but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

These pictures really capture the essence of what you, I, and countless others have gone through.

Wow Ron... My thoughts with your family. However you can tell the positive impact he had on the family and the love between them is paramount. Thanks for sharing and I thought you told a hell of a story we all will remember.

I'm really sorry for your loss Ron.

I lost my dad in the summer of 2010 and I wish I could have gotten such warm images as you did in his last few days. Unfortunately he was not 'with us' as you say very much at all at the end, so it just was't possible. This series of photos was very moving to see for me.

This brought tears to my eyes as my father passed the same way @ the hospital with all of us around. You did a great job documenting and my condolences for your loss.

It's a great story, Ron - and told very well. I too had to wait a bit before replying - wipe a damp eye first. I love that you are celebrating his life and recalling all the joyful times.

I'm new to the forums here, but for what it's worth: Amazing, amazing series. Number 18 - the 'final picture' - what a beautiful photo. Truly a beautiful moment. The vignetting (intentional or not) ads a wonderful element to the intimacy of the exchange. Thank you for sharing.
