Ok...definitely in love with this lens. SO sharp, and yet with a beautiful rendering. Honestly, I know this comparison lens is faster and can have more background blur, but looking through the images with this lens I have the same feeling as when I had the Canon 135 f/2L. It's that level of quality. Tack sharp at all apertures with a beautiful transition to blur and great color.
Some from this weekend (family gettogether). These are all at f/1.8, though I did shoot stopped down several times for group type shots or the like.
I missed focus on this one because my daughter jabbed her head at me when I made the comment to get a natural smile...but it's good enough for web size: http://www.jordansteele.com/2012/chloe_dress1.jpg
Dammit Jman, don't make me hide your posts :P My Paypal balance is starting to cry.
Thankfully nobody has this in stock. I even used Olympus's retail finder to search out a store close by (close by being 3 hours for me) and emailed the store to see if they had stock!
You and me both, dude, you and me both... I think I'll go for the macro first, that's something I miss a lot (though I like the manual Zuiko I use very much). And then the 12/2, maybe?
This lens is in the plan after 60mm and 100-300mm . 12 f/2 is a darn good lens...you're going to love it!.

No more lenses for me until I cross (or burn ) my bridges, and sell my 1Ds2, 300mm f/4L, 180mm f/3.5L Macro and 24-70mm 2.8L. That should take care of the funding My spinal osteoarthritis has "progressed" too far for me to carry around and work for several hours with the big tools
Thanks for the excellent review. I'm finding that I am adding more lenses to my Oly system than my Nikon and it looks like this one will have to join the "to be bought" list.
I do hear a soft high-pitched whine sometimes (when the AF has to travel a longer distance) but it's not loud enough to bother me - much like the hum of the IBIS i.e. only audible in a quiet room and when the camera is close to your ear. The AF is just fine - it will lock focus in almost total darkness (pretty quick too) but one has to remember that the MFD is 33" ... still better than the Canon 135L.
Jordan, you mentioned that the after-market lens hood cost $75 which is incorrect. You can get a Rainbowimaging or JJC for about $40 ... or this screw-in hood for only $8 but don't hold me responsible if the hood is not perfect in any shape or form!
I'm aware of third party knockoffs, but the Olympus hood is $75. It's not inaccurate. Many people don't want to go to a knockoff (I don't have a problem with it, and I own a JJC hood for my 12mm), but it's not an inaccurate statement to say the hood, which should be included with the lens at this price, is $75.
I understand, but in your Conclusion page you said, and I quote "Hood is not included and costs $75 aftermarket".
