Why would you make a B&W picture and leave three yellow lights in the background that have nothing to do with the subject? Distracting and unnecessary.

In #1, my eye immediately goes to the yellow lights. In #2, my eye goes to the face. Very nice, BTW.

have no idea what the color light items are in one which has nothing to do with the photo,,??

If you want to pull the viewer by the nose away from the girl, along the converging lines to the high-contrast area with the yellow lights, then #1 is very effective at doing so. The question is, why would you want to do that? I assume this is a portrait of the girl. So I'd say #2.

#2 for sure. Unless this shot is about the distracting lights. In which case, # 1 FTW!

Sometimes I like a little light in my shots.

However, in this shot I like #2 better.

Thanks for the input guys, I suspected the choice would be number 2, I liked both of them, with regard to #1 I was probably just a bit too enamored with the bokeh of the lights, and hence some ridiculous internal need to highlight them...

Loved working with this model - some beautiful shots beyond this one that I may post too...
