Came across this old barn in the Palouse region. Colour version is very nice with bright yellow forground. Converted to B&W. What are your thoughts on this.

I think the BW conversion leaves the scene flat in that sense that there does not feel to be enough tonal separation of the barn from the background. Sky is kind of featureless as well, but what can you do?
I suspect the color works better here.
As is, I'd add a bit of vignette beyond the apparent burning in the lower quarters, maybe a subtle gradient to the sky to again contain the eye.
I like the toning. Feels right for this image.

I think it's a beautiful shot, but I do agree with Scott that it is lacking and somewhat flat. I'd play with it some more to see if you can't get some separation.
