I can not imagine what it must be like to witness this event . Truly a marvelous set showing the intensity, drama, magnitude , urgency and danger of this event.

Thanks Roberta....the sense of excitement is only heightened by the false starts of the crossing...they are so skittish that any perceived threat get them to back off from the water numerous times and restart the process of filling up the bank only to finally cross when one really thirsty animal decides to be first...then its all together and they just keep coming...5, 10, 20,000 or more...we saw a crossing that apparently went on for 6 hours (we had a plane to catch and had to bolt after the first hour)

Epic!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are few of nature's spectacle that can compare with this...it has it all...it is visually stunning and the sound and fury that goes right through you...then its over and like nothing happened...oh, except the hundreds of dead carcasses in the river from drowning; only to be repeated the next day!

I love the early shots of the herd but for some reason #8 really jumps out at me too. These would make superb large prints on a wall somewhere.
Thanks so much..I hope they convey what I witnessed in person....the sound accompanying a massive crossing is unlike anything I had ever experienced.

Truly some amazing photos. It's a wonder that the wildebeests can get up those steep banks.
Thanks so much...many do not make it....the river is littered with carcasses of those who failed.
