A super shot, Eric, of a beautiful little bird.
I'm continually amazed how often birds zip into dangerous landings such as this, and apparently don't impale themselves on those lethal-looking spikes.

Eric - This is awesome. It looks so much like a bee eater ?
Thanks Shreeni...it is a beautiful bird but is overshadowed by its cousin, the Lilac Breasted Roller. I do believe despite it not being a bee eater that it is an insectivore that eats all manner of bugs.

I agree, but maybe they have learned to do this to avoid predators or just because they can

Very cool capture, Eric.

Ah, yes, Chris...I took a little bit of poetic license. Bono the singer/front man of the rock and roll band U2 from the UK...A stretch I'm afraid but it was late
Glad you liked the pix in any event.

I wouldn't know a Bee Eater from a hub-cape, but I know what I like and this is it... Sweet Job...
Thanks so much and I agree, not knowing the type doesn't change our appreciation of their beauty.
