To avoid the sweltering heat today, headed to the insectarium and the butterflies. I even found the 80 degrees and the 80 % humidity in the butterfly house , hot !
Maybe it was the heat, or maybe I am just getting old and cranky. When all the signs says do not touch or handle the butterflies, why do people try and pick them up . It astounded me the parents that would try and pick one up or catch one so their very young child could hold it. They don't have a clue . I witnessed several butterflies being injured during the day. What is wrong with people. Yes I tried to educate some of them, but they really don't care. Okay, I'm off the soap box.
As always your comments , nits and suggestions are much appreciated.
very nice work, I like the colors in #1 and wish the full length of the antennae were in focus, but where do you draw the line? It is a magnificent pic as is.
#2 is rather unique but has conflicting things to look at, I am not sure what you want the viewer to see
#3 is magnificent, truly inspiring. If a tiny nitpick, the bottom of the wings are a bit oof as are the far side 'legs'. But please forgive me for that statement because it is a wonderful artistic butterfly shot
Re "those parents". I'm in your court. You ought to see my family disown me when I see thing like you described It is your business and without people drawing a line in the sand it gets worse and worse
we should never forget pastor martin niemoller and what he had to say
Keep up the faith Birdie and keep those pics coming
Super shots Roberta...and I am full agreement with you. I find it kinda funny that when you point out the obvious to people sometimes they look at you like you've got two heads
Eric
Birdie,
I'm right up there on the soapbox with you, I spent the day at the wetlands yesterday and
watched a lot of people with dogs and bikes walking/riding past the signs they look at them
and keep on going. Then if you mention something about the wildlife and why the signs are posted
you get everything from f%$# off, to they don't care.
Nice set BTW and I guess it's time for me to get off my soapbox.
Three gorgeous images Roberta especially the last
Good on ya for trying to stop the destruction and their reaction to you tells me they knew they did wrong

Oh, WOW!
Birdie, that last image is a true beauty.
About the bad behavior of an increasingly higher percentage of our fellow countrymen:
For years I've called it "Manifestations of a self-centered society." I've observed its growth from near the beginning, which was- IMO- soon after that Spock guy came out with a book that was (as interpreted by millions of young American parents) about letting young children make all their own behavioral decisions.
And no, I don't mean pointy-eared Spock .
The solution to a society filled with selfish, inconsiderate people? IMO- sadly, there is none.
Charlie
maybe I am just getting old and cranky Glad I'm not the only one feeling that way
I do enjoy your bug work Birdie and these are no exception. This is a marvelous set. You did the standard broad side getting the whole bug in focus and some head on work, they are all winners in my book. The glowing colors in the first two are pure eye candy and the brightly colored subject in the last sure grips my eye. Excellent!
