Mr Fedex stopped at my place this morning. He wasn't dressed as Santa but it sure felt like it

I had to do work outside all day and had no time to play with the new lens until late. I spent about 15 minutes in the backyard testing the lens.

First off Hand holding this lens is a DREAM!!! The EF 800 has been killing me back (Crackers to go with my whine please) so the lighter 600 was a must have.

Very well balanced compared to the 800 and 500 v I.

AF is about the same as the 800 but the IS does seem a stop better? Not sure what the difference is in IS but it was doing a fantastic job on images at 1/125 at 600mm. I didn't do any tests but plan to in the future. Again I only had about 15 minutes to shoot so my time behind the lens was limited.

These are just a few birds from the backyard > No processing except

Downsize for web
Very minimal amount of sharpening

ALL HANDHELD and look at the shutter speed exif

1 image 1/200
2 images 1/100 and 1/125

Pretty impressive IS IMHO

The lens is freaken S H A R P

Now send me my damn 1 D x I've been waiting for

I tried to leave the EXIF Data intact but not sure if I was successful or not. My normal workflow strips but since I didn't process these I think it should still be there.

Very nice. I am jeoulous. I was hoping that it would be bad and I would not have to upgrade from my 500 v1.

It's pretty BAD scott

You won't want one

The damn thing is sharp!! I have the 70-200 f/2.8 IS II and thought it was sharp....... But this lens will give it a good run for the money!!!!

Gonna pick up the new 1.4x so I can compare the 600 with TC to my EF 800 should be interesting results

Congrats on the new toy. I'm sure it will sing in your able hands. It's a pity (for my ability to justify purchasing) it costs as much as a small car.
