p.1 #1 · Taking apart a Manfrotto monopod

I have a stripped out tripod thread on my Nikon 300 2.8 AF-S, and an trying to take apart my 679B monopod in order to put a longer stud into it, so that it reach farther into the threading and eliminate the stripped out part.

Has anyone taken apart one of these before? I am looking for any and all suggestions.

Thanks

Why not just replace the foot on the lens?

It's a first gen AF-S, so the foot is attached to the lens, and the only way of replacing the thread is drilling the foot while it's attached to the lens.
