p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Question about grip (MB-D12) and RRS L-bracket

Hi everyone,

I have a RRS L-bracket with my D700 (without a grip), but I'm considering getting the MB-D12 for the 800. Question, does the L-bracket remain attached to the grip when you remove it to access the batteries, or do you have to remove the L-bracket? RRS don't really have much detail about it on their site.

Also, both L-brackets for the D800 seem to be permanently on backorder. Has anyone recently received theirs from RRS?

Thanks!

I received my RRS bracket for the 800, non gripped about a month ago. I ordered very soon, a few days after the d800 preorders opened.

I haven't used a gripped L bracket but I presume that you do not need to remove the L bracket to remove the grip. I may be wrong.

The L-Bracket can stay attached to the grip for quick removal. The battery door is accessible while the L-bracket is attached.

I found the D800 bracket backordered but signed up to be notified when it was back in stock. Notification was sent less than a week later and I ordered and received the bracket i a few days. RRS = a great company!

And as mentioned, the bracket stays on the grip with full access to the battery on either the camera or the grip.

My D700/MBD10 bracket somewhat fits the D800/MBD12 so I haven't ordered one yet, I plan to just haven't gotten around to it....

Thanks everyone. I will askthem to notify me too.

Edit: There's also suddenly more info on their site, like supplemental instructions plus advise that they will be fully stocked by the end of June.

Just ordered L plate without grip, got two EN-EL15 batteries. Now I need D800E to come off back order.

it can stay attached to your grip and will give you access to you battery tray fully in any position. it also gives you varying access to your side ports as needed by loosening and sliding the L out as needed..

ref this with images. lots of detailed information available there:
