I've recently upgraded to the 5D Mark II, any other suggestions for a wireless release for this camera? Not looking to break the bank (already did that with the camera).
Looking for some suggestions on a wireless remote shutter release for a Canon 50D.
I would like it to have a timer to set release longer than 30 seconds when needed. Also be able to use it wired (if one piece is missing or batteries die) if one exists that does all that.

If you decide on a wired only timer release, be sure that the one you get has the correct connector on it for your 50D. The one that comes up in the link above is the wrong one, and only fits the lower end Canon cameras. You want one that has the N3 style connector that fits all the higher end Canons including the 50D. Here is a link to the right one from the same company as the one above.

The Canon 5D Mark II can be triggered by the Canon RC-6 infared remote trigger, which can give you a limited range solution for remote release. I still much prefer a wired release if I am close enough, and the same N3 connector wired remotes that fit your previous 50D also fit the 5DII.

Thanks, I want a wireless one so I can set-up the camera and not have to stand next to it to get shots of wildlife, birds, etc.
That's the thought anyway.
I know there are a lot of ebay too, just not sure if any are worth the trouble to try.
I had a wireless trigger that ONLY did AF/shoot from amazon that I paid about twenty bucks for. My biggest problem with it was the TX unit used an odd sized battery, and had no off switch. The button would get pressed enough in my gear bag that the (expensive) batteries were constantly running out of juice.
I upgraded to the Velo trigger because the RX unit has an off switch. It uses an odd battery, but I don't have to worry about it running down unless I'm using it. The TX uses AAA batteries, of which I have dozens of rechargeables. Also, the Velo unit has timers and intervals which I don't use often, but it's nice knowing I have the capability if I want it. The cable between the RX and the camera is interchangeable, so when I got a 5d2 and sold my T3i, I just had to get a $5 cable to use it with the new camera.
