p.1 #1 · Backpack and/or Sling with side access to camera
Looking for recommendations for either a backpack/sling that will hold my 5D II with 70-200 f/2.8 attached to it and easy access. I'll probably have my 24-70 along with it and some filters. I've been looking at the Lowe Pro Flipside Sport 10L but with no reviews out there I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The F-Stop Gear Kenti holds a pro body with a 70-200/2.8 in a vertical position, but I think you'll find that most side access bags have issues with that lens in the vertical. Something like the LowePro Fastpack 350 will hold that combo in a horizontal position nicely.
Peace,

I have a Fastpack 200 (no laptop slot) and I routinely carry my 7D with 70-200 f2.8 attached (hood reversed of course) without issues, regardless of what the Lowepro site says. Technically they say no, but practically I say yes :-)
You should be able to squeeze your 24-70 in, but my guess is your hood will need to go in the top zipper compartment.

Thanks for the advice. I've been looking at a few lowepro bags. I just want something simple, not very heavy and not very expensive. I'm not asking for much!!!

Check out Kata's 3N1 bags - I got the 33 size on sale a year or two ago for about 125 or so. Works great as a backpack or you can configure it as a sling from either side. Pretty slick.
This is the one I have- different sizes are available of course

I'll put in a plug for the . Tamrac Velocity 9x. I routinely carry the Nikon Trinity zoom lenses, with any one attached to a gripped D700 with the other two on either side in the internal cavity. The external pocket carries extra batteries, memory cards, my SB-900, and even a CP.

I'm also loving my Kata 3N1-33.
It's tall enough to keep the grip attached where some of the other bags I tried when I was looking didn't fit the body with a grip attached.
