Got some studio lights for my 30th, first time using studio lights or even proper OCF.
Single soft box.

Here is one I recently shot right after sunset on a beach, ISO 560 with the 18-35G using natural and available light.
The setting Sun was to my back right, and I used that to illuminate her face. I also positioned her right below a vapor trail which gave some nice visual interest.
I was looking high and low for this thread (quite old at this juncture!) and couldn't find it using the FM search feature. Went to Google and there it was -- archived! We'll see if it comes back up on the board.
I was playing around some more with the ZF.2 35/2 lens, re-familiarizing myself and zeroing in the AF fine tune. Nothing too exciting and some of these images were posted in an Alt thread for Zeiss lenses. I like the color and character of this lens and it responds well to LR PP without any heavy handed adjustments.
I'd like to see this thread rejuvenated, but from the looks of it, not many share the same interest and have moved on. I'm still liking the D800e and discussion, but not trying to pretend these shots belong in Nikon Best Images thread!
USPS dropped off a Yungnuo Speedlite YN568EX I'd found on eBay at a So Cal pawn shop. The only flash on hand was a Nikon SB-24, as an emergency flash. I've not bought aftermarket flashes since the film era. Quick test shots make it look pretty pleasing, and for a shipped price around $80. It even came with four rechargeable Energizer batteries.
