What settings were you using on these shots? More specifically, what did you have your ISO set too?

Just for a "shits-n-giggles comparison," Here's a couple of shots from the same shoot session with the Nikkor 50/1.4G.

Got it today. Sorry I can't post photos, but first impression is that it is a solid performer. The colors just pop and bokeh is very nice.

Got it lastnight and extremely impressed. Compared to the older D version, bokeh is rounder and creamier. Color is outstanding similar to my 60 2.8G. Last, less purple fringing from f/1.8 - f/4. Some will say it isn't worth upgrading from the older version but I totally disagree.

Just got the lens today. This is Lexi, shot @ 1.8.

Lens is super sharp, if you nail the focus, which is extremely challenging!

I think the WB is a touch off, seems a bit green to me.

Marcus ISO 800 @ 1.8

The OP should change the title to "Nikon 85mm 1.8G - Official Image Thread"

I can still stand by what I said...

The 1.8G does have nicer bokeh and is a little sharper but the AF speed is just not what it should be. I was hoping it would be comparable to the Canon 85mm 1.8 when it first came out and it falls drastically short of that.

It is very sharp but the original 85mm 1.8D was also very sharp. I'd love to get the 85mm 1.8G optics with the screw drive focus lol.

Great work guys!

Been so busy working 6 day weeks, Ive hardy had any photo time so I took the D700 to work hoping I spot something to shoot on the way home.

85 1.8G wide open-

f/1.8-

f/4, notice how round the OOF highlights stay thanks to the rounded blades -

I love it when you get TM involved in a thread. He will kick your butt in a heart beat. I take good pictures but his stuff is crazy good and he brags about it. In Oklahoma that's called balls.
