There has been 4 different females seen around the nest area this season so needless to say no eggs and there probably won't be. The male is just doing his thing as the females sort things out.....he has no choice in the matter and I don't think he really cares.
Not quite sure how or why I'm first to comment (must be east coast time)...but these are really, really quite good. I think your b&w conversion is excellent...and you have a whole bunch of excellent poses and looks throughout...well done Duane!

Damn, Kenny beat me to it
Another very nice set Duane. Too many good ones to pick. Is female #3 smallish, or is the male large. I thought the females were normally larger than the males ~ Ron

Thanks Eric....slow season compared to years past so I've been concentrating on the different looks/poses they offer up.

Very nice set of BE Duane! I really the B&W version of this set. Very nice mood for this morning.
How can you tell whether the eagle is male or female from their appearance? I rarely get to see BEs in real life so I don't know, thanks.

It's hard to tell when they're alone. Females are larger than the males is the best way to tell..or when they mate. Seriously...I really can't tell you the best way other than being able to observe a nesting pair and go from there.

It's like #1 and #2 are talking to eachother... I think #6 is fantastic too. All very nice stuff.
Thanks a lot.

Thanks Ron. She's a big girl...maybe it's just the angle I shot that one at. And yes, the females are larger and this male is on the small side compared to his mates.

Beautiful shots. I think I might have darkened #1 a bit and tweaked the contrast but that's only my personal taste.
I have 2 versions of this B/W...the second one is darker becasue someone on another forum suggested what you said. I still prefer the lighter version and you are correct...each person is different.

Khai, I asked the same question to an Ornithologist. Sexing the bird during banding and finding a special marking is usually the easiest. When spotting the pair together the female is bigger. When spotting individually it's tough to tell. Some say the length of the ridge at the top of the beak is great for telling sex. The ridge on the female's beak is longer before it curves downward.
