Passers-by looked at me rather peculiarly. They probably thought, "Who is this nutcase and what is he doing pointing that dinky little camera at his face?"
If questioned I was prepared to tell them I was on assignment for FM. Do you think they would have bought that?

Quick thinking, there, Norm...innovative idea, as I just spent a fruitless two-mile dogwalk reflecting on how to portray an urban landscape in macro terms. A person can't dawdle with the image ideas in this forum!
...and my bet is that passersby would have hurried away after you said "Miranda", which conjures up all sorts of legal/law enforcement images from television exposure to "Miranda Rights"...

My first thoughts of urban macro shots were mostly hackneyed things like various bits of trash in the street, graffiti, rusty locks, etc. Many years ago I saw something that would be appropriate but no longer possible. There was a quarter that had been dropped on an street and it had been squished in into the asphalt by traffic. It might have been a bit dangerous to get a macro shot of it

I'm sure people will come up with novel ways to do something with the even hackneyed subjects. I just wasn't able to do it. My problem was thinking of a shot showing both the subject as well as the urban setting.
Wonderfully creative Norm !!! Great shot. Macro does make one do some strange things that others question! My neighbors know me as the crazy lady who lays in the grass , some don't know I have my camera

Thanks Roberta, I know of where of you speak about the neighbors. One of my ideas entailed me lying down in the street in front of my house and portraying a pothole as an urban landscape scenic, I just couldn't find a mountain-climbing ant.
