p.2 #1 · Nikon 85mm 1.8G

Can anyone who has both the Sigma and the new 1.8G shoot them both at 1.8 at a good distance say 30 feet or so and report back?

I have the sigma and find that outside of 15 feet it struggles. Maybe it needs AF adjustment for infinity. A closer distances it's really great.

Jonathan's been spending too much time with Rimjob...and has forgotten how to read.

Any one get there yet that purchased around February? Or does any one know of a mom and pop shop that might have one? I am beginning to think I won't get mine until after June...

So you buy a lens, shoot a wedding, then return the lens, so most likely some one will get a used lens that they paid new price for, because most all stores would just put the lens back on the shelve.
This is one major reason I wish Nikon would seal all boxes.

I am in the market for one if someone wants to sell ...

I am also interested in the Sigma comparison, but I got a little bummed out with Sigma over the years due to build quality.

Thanks!

While I agree to some extent. A lens is not a camera body and actuations don't matter. Most people here on the forum test there lenses out before deciding.

Sealed boxes would also mean you couldn't try before you buy, is that okay with you?
