Didn't mean to sound like I was challenging you ... I wasn't. Just wondered if that was in writing somewhere you'd seen. Sometimes on my travels it's difficult to charge batteries as often as I'd like and I like the peace of mind that having several spares offers. If I'm buying five extras, I don't mind saving a little money.
My understanding is that using any 3rd-party product or accessory doesn't void the warranty in the U.S. unless it can be shown that the product or accessory caused the problem that gives rise to a warranty claim. Whether that's true in other countries I don't know and I'm not 100% certain I'm right about the U.S. but I think I am.

It will always take some time before a new camera is included in Adobe ACR.
Indeed, Adobe is a third party vendor. From what I have seen they are pretty fast in updating the most recent version of ACR or LR. I hope in a few weeks or so.
I am sure that there is a reason for Canon to release the camera on the 22nd in the US; they are still doing the final touches on the latest DPP that will be included with the camera in the US.

There is a new version of DPP on the disk that came with with my Mark III. The version of DPP that came with my Canon G1X, purchased about a month ago, doesn't work for the Mark III, so this is a very new version of the software.

How can they sell a $3500 camera and not include software for raw images?? Lightroom 4 is not able to process yet either right? Wow!

There you go then. While a third party support is great, since I like LR for my workflow, too, but as long as Canon supplies the most recent DPP version that can be used to work on the RAW of the Mark III then that's the limit of their obligation, I would say.

Have you had a chance to open any 5D3 raw images with the new DPP? I'd be very interested to see how the DPP conversons compare to the ACR beta versions.

Apparently at low ISO D800 has 2 stops more DR than 5D III and at high ISO, when image size is equalised, D800 is at least as good as 5D III. You can your cake and eat it too.

Which is great if you're doing landscapes, for the rest of us, the 5DIII is ideal at higher ISOs. From looking at the processed RAW samples at high ISO, it seems the 5DIII is 2 stops better than the 5DII. I'm happy and glad I pre-ordered from Amazon; now just waiting for it to show up.

Sorry there is no 2 stop improvement in RAW whatsoever. That is the jpg engine.
The 5D III is no better at high ISO than D800, so how is it idela for high ISO.
