This amazing old Live Oak is hidden in the woods along one of my running trails.

Unfortunately the lighting and sky were not so great by the time I finally made it there with my camera gear. I have shots from many different angles and I'm having a hard time deciding on which to submit, but it's late so I'm going with this one...

Thanks Mark. I was having a hard time avoiding flare due to the sun's angle at the time. I took some bracketed shots as well and tried some HDR processing, but that never works out too well for me (this shot was +2 and probably could have used a little more).

I'll have to go back an try this again sometime when the lighting is better and the sky is a little more interesting.

The lines of the tree from the perspective you chose really make this a classy photo!

Thanks Bob. I definitely wanted to include the interesting part of the trunk in the bottom right so I had to get low for that, but I also wanted to show the horizontal trunk going off to the left (typical of Live Oaks). Thankfully I had my 17-40 with me to capture all that.

The timing worked out well for this week's assignment as Live Oaks here drop their leaves around the first week of March (the "evergreen" Oak). My yard started filling up with leaves this week from the two that are on my property, so I'll be doing a lot of raking this weekend
